Vigyan mela 2006
 

ESCN conducted a science fair entitled Vigyan mela 2006 on Jan 1-15,2006 at Everest Science Center Nepal, Sitagunj. Organization / Institutions / Individuals, displayed and demonstrating a multitude of significant scientific and technological exhibits and experiments during the fair. This 15-days fair turned out to be tremendously rewarding as far as scientific and technological teaching and learning is concerned.

 
     
Vigyaan Mela - 2062
 

ESCN had organized a three-day Science Exhibition/ Fair entitled Vigyaan Mela - 2062 on April 14 - 16, 2005.

Thirteen different schools, colleges, organizations, institutions and individuals participated in the fair – displaying and demonstrating health-related, scientific and technological exhibits, experiments and awareness programmes. A total of 11,188 (eleven thousand, one hundred and eighty-eight) registered visitors attended the three-day fair. The Science Fair was conducted mainly to inaugurate ESCN’s exhibits and also to provide a platform for those potential schools/colleges, institutions, organizations and individuals, for displaying and demonstrating their creative scientific designs or awareness programmes. ESCN imparted scientific information to the general public by displaying very simple and easy-to-understand exhibits. Many convoluted theories of science were displayed and demonstrated in a very clear and simple manner by the participants.

Many people showered interest in learning from the presentations conducted in the Everest Planetarium. The Planetarium team made educational-presentations throughout the fair. A total of 2004 (two thousand and four)visitors came to watch the presentations in the planetarium.

During the fair, ESCN and Nepal Homeopathic Medical College conducted a Free Health Campaign from 15 – 16 April, 2005. ESCN organized the medicines while Nepal Homeopathic Medical College, with eight Doctors and thirty-two assistants conducted the free campaign. This free health campaign was organized especially for the poor and the needy. The number of patients during the two-day health campaign was 1433 (One thousand four hundred and thirty-three).

ESCN also presented pecuniary rewards for institutions/individuals with the best designs and explanations of their exhibits/awareness programmes. The last day of the fair was teeming with entertaining games, prizes and certificate distribution.

 
     
FARMING LITERACY PROGRAMME FOR FARMERS
 


The Agriculture Department organised a three-day training programme on February 22-24, 2004 entitled “Farming Literacy Programme” for farmers from five Village Development Committees (VDCs) of the Sunsari District. The selected participants from each VDC were leading farmers in their communities. A field visit session was organised for the farmers and information on a more mature level about plants and animals and their diseases and remedies were imparted. A total of thirty farmers participated in the training programme.

 
     
WORKSHOP ON THE ROAD TO SCIENCE EXPERIMENTS
 


ESCN organised a two-day workshop entitled “Workshop on The Road to Science Experiments” on February 22 - 23, 2004. The workshop was organised for different school/college science teachers and the prime objective of this workshop was to share and disseminate scientific experiments and ideas to invited school teachers in a very simple way, using exceptionally low-cost and locally available materials. A consortium of very simple experiments on the subjects: Physics, Mathematics, Computer, Chemistry and Biology, were well displayed and demonstrated. A total of sixteen school science teachers participated from sixteen different schools. The workshop not just helped in sharing scientific knowledge but also provided a platform for interactions and a concrete network between the participants and ESCN. ESCN hoped teachers to gain knowledge on the simple way of learning Science and to further share and teach their school/college children the easy method of learning science.

 
     
WORKSHOP FOR MAKING SCIENCE EASIER
 


ESCN organized yet another six-day workshop entitled “Workshop for Making Science Easier” on February 8-13, 2004. The workshop was conducted with an aim to teach Science to school students in a very simple way, using exceptionally low-cost and locally available materials. Varieties of very simple exhibits on the subjects: Physics, Mathematics, Computer, Biology, Agriculture and Electronics were well displayed and demonstrated. The experiments demonstrated were all related to the 8 th, 9 th and 10 th standard science textbooks.

The workshop was designed in such a way that maximum interaction amongst the participants and the workshop conductors would transpire. A total of two hundred and twenty four students from ten different schools participated in the Workshop. ESCN charged no participation fees whatsoever. The participation comprised of both Government and well as Private Schools.

 
     
WORKSHOP ENTITLED “SCIENCE WEEK”
 


The first workshop that ESCN organized was entitled “Science Week” that was conducted from June 6 - 11, 2003. This six-day workshop was conducted with an aim to teach Science to school students in a very simple way, using exceptionally low-cost and locally available materials. Varieties of very simple exhibits on the subjects: Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Electronics were well displayed and demonstrated. The experiments demonstrated were all related to the 8 th, 9 th and 10 th standard science textbooks. A total of 475 (four hundred and seventy five) students from seventeen different schools participated in the workshop.
